Why do I support the mission of the Boy Scouts? It works!

Since 1907, Scouting BSA has evolved and continues to go strong in our community.  Years ago, when I was a Cubmaster, I remember going into the elementary schools and telling the 1^st-4^th graders that they could go camping, make fires, shoot bb guns, shoot bow & arrows, launch rockets…  Every child got excited and wanted to “sign-up” and start their own outdoor adventure.  Then came the recruitment night, where the families filled the cafeteria, and their son was so excited to join and proudly wear the uniform.  This was the start of many youth into a great organization that will help shape their character for their future.  As the youth got older, the adventures become real as they were able to experience rock climbing, rappelling, fishing, white water rafting and then one day to hike the face of a mountain with their gear on their back.  I have now seen it though the eyes of my own boys and their friends how they have learned and have been challenged by the lessons that Scouting teaches.  Now, more than ever, it is important that we keep the Scouting program funded for our future.
